Infosecurity Europe, ExCeL London, 14 May 2025: Infosecurity Europe, the most influential information security eventrunning from the 3-5 June 2025 at ExCeL London, has announced that Rory Stewart OBE and Paul Chichester, Director of Operations at the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), will headline day two of this year’s event with keynote sessions focused on the growing connection between geopolitics and cybersecurity.

Infosecurity Europe will explore how power shifts, alliances, and economic pressures are intensifying and increasing the complexity of digital defence strategies for organisations worldwide.

Rory Stewart’s keynote, Shifting Sands: Geopolitics, Threat and the Future, will take place on Wednesday, 4th Jun at 10:05 and will explore how the geopolitical world order is evolving at an unprecedented pace. With global instability at its highest in decades and as nations adapt to new alliances and economic pressures, digital warfare tactics are becoming increasingly sophisticated.

Recent reports indicate a marked increase in cyber operations tied to state actors, with the NCSC warning that hostile states are exploiting cybercrime as both an economic tool and a strategic weapon. Nations are shifting alliances, with some forging closer ties while others drift into increasing isolation. This realignment has direct consequences for cybersecurity, as the nature and origin of threats become more difficult to predict. Stewart will examine these developments and offer a perspective on how they could evolve in the coming years.

Building on this theme, Paul Chichester, Director of Operations, NCSC, will follow on the Keynote Stage at 12:20 for The Cyber Cold War? Geopolitics Driving Cyber Threat, offering insights from the frontline of UK national defence. Chichester will share intelligence on the tactics evolving across regions, the emergence of new international actors, and the strategic targeting of UK infrastructure.

The NCSC has seen “nationally significant” cyber incidents double from September 2024 to May 2025 compared with the same period in the previous year.

Additionally, the NCSC received almost 2000 reports of cyber-attacks in 2024, of which 89 were considered nationally significant, including 12 critical incidents.

Attendees can expect valuable insight into how the UK is strengthening national resilience and where organisations should focus their defences amid rising international tensions.

Brad Maule-ffinch, Event Director at Infosecurity Europe, added: “The relationship between geopolitics and cybersecurity is a growing concern and should be a topic for discussion in every boardroom. These sessions will provide our attendees with vital knowledge on the threats shaping our industry. Both keynotes will be essential to grasping the reality of these threats and the future of cybersecurity.”

Adding even more weight to the programme, Infosecurity Europe is proud to welcome back several of its Hall of Fame alumni, who will chair the Keynote Stage throughout the week. These individuals are among the most trusted and experienced figures in cybersecurity, known for translating complex developments into meaningful insight for security practitioners.

The Hall of Fame honours globally respected cybersecurity leaders and practitioners, and their presence at this year’s show will help shape discussion, challenge assumptions, and support the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. This year, several of our most distinguished alumni return to lead and inspire as keynote chairs. As part of the Hall of Fame celebrations, Infosecurity Europe will host a special ceremony and open mic session, offering attendees the chance to engage directly with some of the industry’s most experienced leaders.

  • On Tuesday 3 June, the stage will be chaired by Graham Cluley, independent security expert, podcast host, and one of the industry’s most enduring voices. Cluley brings a rare mix of technical depth and engaging clarity, having worked with global law enforcement and developed some of the earliest antivirus software.
  • On Wednesday 4 June, social engineering authority Jenny Radcliffe, known as The People Hacker, will bring her expertise in human behaviour and psychological security to the stage, drawing on a career dedicated to demystifying the human side of risk.
  • On Thursday 5 JuneBecky Pinkard, MD of Global Cyber Operations and long-standing security strategist, will chair the day’s sessions, helping guide the conversation around resilience, operations, and cyber leadership.

Pinkard will announce the inductions of Ciaran Martin into the Infosecurity Europe Hall of Fame. As the founding Chief Executive of the UK’s NCSC, Ciaran played a transformative role in reshaping the UK’s cyber defence landscape and remains a globally respected authority on cyber policy and strategy.

This will be followed by an Open Mic session with Hall of Fame alumni, including 2024 inductee, Stephen Khan, Chief Business Information Security Officer at Cognizant Technology Services. This session offers a unique opportunity to ask pressing questions and gain valuable insight from some of the industry’s top leaders.
