New analysis has revealed the UK beaches that you need to visit – and avoid – if you’re planning to create holiday envy by using your phone at the coast this summer.

A lack of 4G is an experience everyone can do without this season, but Instagram addicts need fear not, as award-winning mobile phone insurer Insurance2Go has a new guide on the best beaches for getting connected this summer, based on data from Ofcom.

If getting snap-happy is high on your ‘to do’ list for the beach, these ten beaches are the ones to put into the satnav, as they have the best 4G signal in the UK:

  1. Studland Bay, Dorset
  2. Portstewart Strand, Northern Ireland
  3. Porthminster Beach, Cornwall
  4. Hengistbury Head, Dorset
  5. Crosby Beach, Merseyside
  6. St Anne’s Beach, Lancashire
  7. Cleethorpes Beach, Lincolnshire
  8. Whiterocks Beach, Northern Ireland
  9. Portobello, Scotland
  10. West Wittering, West Sussex

The best beach 4G provider is EE, followed by Vodafone and O2. Three trailed behind in a pretty distant last place.

With an array of locations offering stunning natural beauty among the top ten connected beaches, the pressure is on for you to make sure your photos do it justice.

To ensure your snaps are of the best quality, Insurance2go has created a top tips guide to taking the perfect beach pictures on your phone – with the number one rule being to ‘have a focal point’. You can find the blog and remaining tips right here https://www.insurance2go.co.uk/media-centre/5-tips-for-taking-the-perfect-beach-snaps/

However, if you’re planning on visiting Wales, you might want to prepare yourself for a bulk upload once you head back to civilisation, as half the beaches without a connection can be found in Wales.

The following beaches’ 4G signal is non-existent, and likely to cause major frustration for the social media addicts among us:

  1. Barafundle Bay, Wales
  2. Silecroft Beach, Cumbria
  3. Porthcurno, Cornwall
  4. Blackpool Sands, Devon
  5. Sandwood Bay Beach, Scotland
  6. Luskentyre, Scotland
  7. Marloes Sands, Wales
  8. Rhossili Beach, Wales
  9. Barmouth Beach, Wales
  10. Whitesands Bay, Wales

Gary Beeston, Managing Director of Insurance2go, said: “We know how much importance people place on their phone images, and with the summer being the perfect time to photograph your memories, we wanted to make sure visitors to the coast choose the best beaches possible.

“The research clearly highlights Wales as a bit of a black hole for 4G signal, but at least visitors will now be prepared for the ‘failed to upload’ messages during their trip!”
