Bellway Homes has launched its second phase of its popular Lansbury Square development in Poplar, East London. Poplar offers a pocket of affordability very close to Canary Wharf, making it an appealing area for first time buyers and young professionals. House-hunters are drawn to the high specification apartments on offer at Lansbury Square, together with concierge and residents’ gym, and buyer interest remains high.

Many of the apartments at Lansbury Square are available through Help to Buy, giving extra assistance to those wanting to get onto the property ladder. With an extra £10bn promised by the Government for the Help to Buy scheme in the forthcoming Budget, first time buyers in particular are set to continue to benefit from the support the scheme offers. Nationally over 80% of homes purchased through Help to Buy were by first time buyers and at Lansbury Square over 75% of purchasers were buying their first home.

The second phase of Lansbury Square offers 64 contemporary apartments in a mix of one, two and three bedroom layouts. A concierge will be on hand to make lives easier and the fully equipped gym will offer residents exclusive 24-hour access. Purchasers that reserve an apartment throughout November are also being given a free furniture pack to help them settle into their new homes.

Emma Denton, Head of Sales at Bellway Homes Thames Gateway, comments: “It is great to be able to launch the second phase of our site in Poplar. The fact that Lansbury Square continues to be popular for first time shows how the area is growing in popularity and becoming more established as a vibrant neighbourhood for young professionals. For those looking for an affordable, high quality property in a very convenient location, Lansbury Square ticks all of the boxes.”

The apartments at Lansbury Square are set in a series of striking buildings that combine sleek modern architecture and high quality interiors. Inside the apartments offer open-plan living spaces that make the most of natural light and space. The contemporary specification includes fitted kitchens with integrated stainless steel appliances, elegantly tiled bathrooms and en-suite shower rooms. A choice of flooring is on offer and energy efficient lighting is included throughout. Each home features a private outdoor living space in the form of a balcony or terrace providing sweeping views towards Canary Wharf and across the London skyline. Residents will also be able to enjoy relaxing in the communal landscaped podium gardens.

Located in Rifle Street off Chrisp Street, Lansbury Square is conveniently located for a wide range of amenities and excellent transport links. Poplar is rapidly emerging as property hotspot with unique character and a thriving mix of retail and leisure facilities, including Chrisp Street Market, which is undergoing extensive redevelopment. Nearby the Poplar Baths Leisure Centre has been restored and reopened after almost 30 years and recently won a prestigious New London Architecture Award.

Transport links are good with Langdon Park DLR station just a few minutes’ walk away putting Canary Wharf a five-minute journey away or for those who prefer to travel on foot, the walk takes a little over 20 minutes. The closest London Underground station is Bromley-By-Bow (District, and Hammersmith & City lines), a 15-minute walk away, while major roads include the A12, the East India Dock Road and the A11 are all close by. Transport links will be further improved when Canary Wharf becomes a station on the Crossrail Elizabeth Line.

Help to Buy is available on the properties at Lansbury Square below the £600,000 cap and is open to all purchasers, not only first-time buyers. Buyers will need at least a 5% deposit and, together with the 40% equity loan for London buyers that is interest free for the first five years, they will only have to find a mortgage for the remaining 55%.
