Larger new homes are becoming important for families across the UK who want to move due to having children. Family factors, according to an eMoov survey found that 33%1 of movers, upped sticks due to a new child on the way. Ground breaking work has commenced for 130 new homes, in Pretoria Road and the launch event will see the first 12, two, three and four bedroom contemporary houses released for sale off-plan, starting from just £389,995. Runnymede Borough Council recently reported a need for 446 new homes to be built per year in the borough until 2033, with 35% needed for affordable housing. At a recent ground breaking event to show case the building work on site, Chertsey Meads Ward Councillor Derek Cotty said: “These much-needed homes will unquestionably enhance our community here in Chertsey, bringing new faces and families into our town.”
The homes are close to local amenities in nearby Chertsey town centre offering a selection of shops, restaurants and the River Bourne Health Club. The much-loved theme park, Thorpe Park is only a 10-minute journey away by car and so is unique water sport facility Thorpe Ski.
For families, Chertsey Halt is also perfectly positioned near a number of well-regarded schools, such as St Anne’s Catholic Primary School and Meadowcroft Community Infant School, while Salesians School and Jubilee High School welcome older pupils.
