South Oxfordshire has been ranked the 10th best rural place to live within the UK, according to the Lloyds banking group. The survey takes into account life expectancy, crime rate, education and air quality as well as other attributes when choosing a new home[1]. Located in the South Oxfordshire village of Blewbury, Bellway Homes is delighted to be offering an elegant collection of two, three and four-bedroom homes at Chailey Gardens.

Blewbury lies at the foot of the Berkshire Downs and is a quintessential English village, boasting rural surrounds, traditional local amenities and a rich history that stretches back to 634 AD. The homes themselves are classic family residences, finished to a superior specification, perfect for modern living and suited to a range of homebuyers.

Steve Garton, Sales Director at Bellway Thames Valley comments: “The survey shows how highly regarded South Oxfordshire is, and being ranked tenth across the whole of the UK is a testament to the quality of education, beautiful landscapes and real sense of community amongst its villages. Blewbury falls firmly into this category and residents will enjoy a great selection of local amenities, several very good schools and be living in a unique rural environment.”

“The area also has excellent transport connections, ensuring residents are not cut off from London and surrounding towns, despite its rural setting. For those currently interested in a countrified, family location, I would recommend homebuyers visit our new show home and come and see this highly desirable village themselves.”

A brilliant example of the fantastic properties available is The Abbotsbury, an attractive four-bedroom family home featuring generous living spaces and finished to an excellent specification. On entering the Abbotsbury, residents will find a front-facing kitchen complete with a range of integrated appliances. There are modern Symphony units to the kitchen, complete with soft-close doors and drawers, alongside an AEG double oven, integrated fridge freezer and dishwasher.

Towards the rear of the ground floor is an open-plan living and dining area, leading out onto the rear garden through elegant French doors. A modern cloakroom is located off the hallway and completes the ground floor.

On the first floor there are three double bedrooms and one spacious single. The master bedroom includes fitted wardrobes and an attractive en-suite shower room, while bedrooms two, three and four are served by a contemporary family bathroom, complete with white Roca sanitaryware, stylish chrome brassware and a heated towel rail.

Blewbury is a quaint civil parish with a 1,000-year history, and offers a friendly close-knit community. Residents in this picturesque English village benefit from a local store, a traditional village pub, a cricket green and Post Office. Other unique features include the Orchard Dene open-air garden theatre, which hosts highly entertaining summer productions in keeping with the area’s strong theatrical tradition. For a wider selection of retail facilities, the Orchard Shopping Centre in Didcot is under 10 minutes away by car.

For family outdoor pursuits, residents are blessed with a network of footpaths and walking routes through farmland and forests in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty right on the doorstep of Blewbury and the surrounding villages.

Younger residents have a superb choice of Good and Outstanding Ofsted rated primary schools nearby, including Blewbury Endowed Church of England Primary School, just a 10 minute walk from Chailey Gardens. For older students, the well-regarded St. Birinus School for boys is seven minutes away by car, Didcot Girls School is an 11-minute drive, while The Downs School (mixed) is a 15 minute drive from home.

Didcot Parkway Station is only 3.5 miles from the development, providing regular services to London Paddington in 45 minutes, Oxford in 20 minutes, Cardiff Central in 26 minutes and Bristol Temple Meads in one hour. The development also enjoys convenient access on road networks to Reading in just over 30 minutes and Oxford in only eight minutes.
