Southampton’s first purpose-built rental apartments are launching soon offering long-term tenancy agreements and a host of amenities. The South coast university town, recently named by property website Zoopla as one of the biggest hotspots in the country, is home to Bow Square, the first regional development to offer new look rental homes, inspired by the US market.

The Bow Square development, where Bernard Street meets Queensway, is a collaboration between Rockspring Property Investment Managers LLP and Atlas Residential which will offer rental apartments that residents can truly call home. The collection of 279 brand new one and two bedroom flats will be available for rent, with 109 homes available from September 2017.

Bow Square will offer a ‘best in class’ rental experience by providing a host of hotel-style services, including a fully equipped residents lounge offering a stylish and comfortable space to meet and socialise with friends and other residents, free communal WiFi, use of a business centre for printing and computer access, a games & TV room (also available for private hire) and a fully equipped fitness room. A team of on-site property managers and resident service associates will be on hand to take care of resident requests promptly.

Jonathon Ivory, Atlas Residential Managing Director said: “This type of rental model, known in North America as multi-family, is well established in the US and is a popular option for those wanting a home without being tied into a mortgage, or sacrificing quality and a high standard of on-site management.

“Southampton is a property hotspot and a regional market that has yet to tap into the private rental sector in this way. Bow Square is a perfect opportunity to show how the rental market is changing for the better, and how institutional landlords can deliver a quality development, with excellent customer service, and a host of amenities for residents.

Eric Linden, European Director at Rockspring commented: “At Bow Square, we are offering tenancies of up to three years in a scheme that has the feel of a serviced hotel suite, in a great location and with superb facilities on-site. We recommend anyone interested in looking at a new way to rent to come and visit our show apartments to see for themselves what is on offer.”

The Bow Square apartments, set on the former fruit and vegetable market site, are designed for modern living with spacious interiors and are filled with natural light thanks to extensive glazing. Residents will be able to choose from one or two bedroom layouts and have access to private outdoor space in the form of terraces and balconies, many offering sweeping views of the city, in addition to a private courtyard where residents will be able to enjoy landscaped gardens and socialise around the fire pit or cook for friends on the communal BBQ.

All apartments include high quality, open plan kitchen, dining and living rooms with fully-fitted kitchens, large built in wardrobes to bedrooms and contemporary bathroom suites. Two bedroom apartments feature an en suite to the master bedroom, and a separate bathroom. There is also secure underground parking and car charge points on-site.

Southampton is seeing much regeneration around nearby Bargate and East Street areas where there is significant investment in new leisure and retail developments. Set against the historic backdrop of the town’s medieval city walls, Bow Square is conveniently located in the heart of the city just minutes away from the main retail and leisure destinations. The ‘Bow’ in Bow Square stands for ‘Back of Walls’ which pays homage to the site’s heritage and the historical walk that visitors and residents can take in the area.

Residents will also be ideally located to access the nearby Ocean Village Marina offering a range of bars, restaurants and nightlife as well as green open spaces of the several city centre parks.

Travel connections are good with Southampton Central just a mile away, with trains to London Waterloo in as little as one hour 20 minutes. For international travel, Southampton Airport is only four miles away, with the marina nearby for departures by boat.
