Because [gender diversity](https://www.financedigest.com/breaking-down-venture-capitals-gender-and-diversity-barriers.html "Breaking down Venture Capital’s gender and diversity barriers") is not only an equality issue but also an economic performance issue and a decisive growth lever for our future. [Europe is the region of the world where women entrepreneurs](https://www.financedigest.com/europes-top-innovators-celebrated-at-the-corporate-entrepreneur-awards.html "Europe’s top innovators celebrated at the Corporate Entrepreneur Awards ") are most likely to thrive. However, globally, out of [every 100 startups](https://www.financedigest.com/legislate-raises-3-6m-to-give-startups-smes-the-technology-to-query-and-compare-every-contract.html "Legislate raises .6M to give startups & SMEs the technology to query and compare every contract") funded, only 2 go to companies founded by women. 98% of [investments go to companies](https://www.financedigest.com/more-companies-investing-heavily-in-business-services-software.html "More Companies Investing Heavily In Business Services Software") founded by men. Creating inclusive markets that address limited access to health care, education, [financial and other services](https://www.financedigest.com/wrapping-financial-services-in-a-security-blanket.html "Wrapping Financial Services in a Security Blanket") requires empowering diverse entrepreneurs. Women not only make up half of the market and a large proportion of the workforce, but also [drive household spending](https://www.financedigest.com/spending-drive-knocks-spotify-shares-after-q1-beat.html "Spending drive knocks Spotify shares after Q1 beat"). Their inability to access [markets excludes entire families from a better standard of living](https://www.financedigest.com/mull-it-over-living-near-the-uks-best-christmas-markets.html "Mull it over: Living near the UK’s best Christmas markets"). So what works: the fact of having a network, yes, very clearly, but I would add that it will probably be necessary to create a law: the obligation for investors to explain their choices, and to have more [gender diversity](https://www.financedigest.com/a-gen-z-approach-to-gender-diversity.html "A Gen Z Approach to Gender Diversity") within investment panels. We can no longer ignore these issues: lack of representation, societal biases, [closed networks](https://www.financedigest.com/closing-the-door-before-the-horse-bolts-developing-a-proactive-network-detection-and-response-ndr-strategy.html "Closing the door before the horse bolts: Developing a proactive network detection and response (NDR) strategy "), insufficient investor commitment to women. To change this paradigm: a concerted effort is needed, and quickly. It is by stepping out of a familiar comfort [zone and making a determined effort that we will seize growing](https://www.financedigest.com/euro-zone-economy-faces-growing-risk-of-recession-survey-shows.html "Euro zone economy faces growing risk of recession, survey shows") opportunities for all and by all. More than 40 [years ago the term](https://www.financedigest.com/new-foresight-smart-bonds-fund-attractive-fixed-returns-and-a-choice-of-one-two-or-three-year-terms.html "New Foresight Smart Bonds Fund – Attractive Fixed Returns and A Choice Of One, Two Or Three Year Terms") glass ceiling was first used. Four decades in which, although great progress has been made in [terms of women’s position in the power](https://www.financedigest.com/analysis-how-chinas-xi-accumulated-power-and-why-it-matters-in-a-third-term.html "Analysis-How China’s Xi accumulated power, and why it matters in a third term") spheres, the results are still insufficient. At both global and local levels, women’s low labour force participation and stagnant wages therefore [remain the black](https://www.financedigest.com/kremlin-remains-downbeat-on-state-of-black-sea-grain-deal.html "Kremlin remains downbeat on state of Black Sea grain deal") spot for equality. The cause? Cultural biais, still, but also their under-representation in future jobs such as [cloud computing](https://www.financedigest.com/the-value-of-cloud-computing.html "The Value of Cloud Computing"), engineering, data or artificial intelligence. JFD’s ambition is to help the [women and men](https://www.financedigest.com/bloom-uk-launches-fourth-annual-co-mentoring-scheme-the-exchange-for-senior-and-c-suite-men-and-women.html "Bloom UK launches fourth annual co-mentoring scheme, The Exchange, for senior and C-suite men and women") by giving them methods, by making them aware of the existing tools to project themselves into the future and finally come out of the shadows.
