UK businesses are still struggling to boost productivity. Output from UK businesses grew only 0.5 per cent over the last quarter, 17 per cent below an extrapolation based on pre-downturn trends, indicating that the country still has a long way to go in bridging the long-running productivity gap between Britain and other G7 nations.
