The Natural History Museum (NHM) has successfully achieved £11 million in energy savings and reduced carbon emissions by over 15,000 tonnes during the past decade thanks to a trigeneration scheme in partnership with Vital Energi.

Featuring a 1.9MW Combined Heat and Power engine, boilers and absorption chillers, the project serves both the NHM and the Victoria and Albert Museum and is underpinned by an energy performance contract that guarantees minimum carbon savings and financial returns.

The NHM has very specific heating and cooling needs as it is required to maintain an optimum year round temperature to maintain the integrity of its exhibits.
