Building a successful business is a dream for many people. However, the journey is almost never easy. Just ask Tiam Behdarvandan, founder of multinational moving franchise Let’s Get Moving.

Behdarvandan first got into the moving business at age 19 with a secondhand truck. “I got a truck and I started to advertise, and I got a couple of jobs here and there,” he says. “I wrote my first job on a piece of paper or a napkin — I don't even remember. I was just surprised he was booking a job with me.”

Behdarvandan was industrious, but building a business proved to be more difficult than he thought. “Slowly from there, I was trying to grow the business, but honestly, it didn't work out so well. It was really tough,” he recalls. “I wasn't able to get customers. I didn't know how to run a business. I didn't know how to build a website, how to build a brand, how to make it attractive, how to make people want to do business with us.”

Behdarvandan wasn’t ready to give up, but he knew that if he wanted his company to be successful, something had to change. He read all he could about building moving companies. Perhaps most critically, he connected with a business mentor. That relationship proved to be the catalyst the company needed.

“I kept going back and kept learning, and I started implementing everything he taught me,” says Behdarvandan. “I became really serious about mentorship and wanting to achieve better growth. So I worked with him privately for three years, and he really helped me grow every aspect of my business.”

Finally, Let’s Get Moving had found its footing. In 2023, about 12 years after Behdarvandan started that first business with just himself and a single truck, the company was ready to franchise.

Franchising is where Behdarvandan’s company really sets itself apart. At the time he started franchising, the company had a handful of corporate locations across Canada. Just nine months into the process, Let’s Get Moving had more than 85 locations in the U.S. and Canada.

The company continued to add new franchise locations in 2024 and 2025, and its growth shows no signs of slowing. There’s no shortage of aspiring franchisees, and new locations are becoming profitable almost immediately.

“They're doing great,” says Behdarvandan. “Many of these locations are doing over $100,000 or $120,000 a month.”

This kind of growth is unprecedented for any franchise, let alone one in the moving industry. What makes Let’s Get Moving different?

“The thing that really differentiates us from all other franchisors, especially in the moving business, is that we actually do everything for the franchisees,” Behdarvandan explains.

That might sound hyperbolic, but it’s true. Corporate handles marketing and website management. They even book each location’s moving jobs. As a result, individual franchisees have the time and energy to focus on delivering a great customer experience.

Behdarvandan’s story is an inspiring one for anyone trying to make it in the business world. His wisdom is hard-won, but he’s more than willing to share it with new franchisees. Together, they’ve propelled Let’s Get Moving to even greater heights.
