# Countryside selected by Bromley Council to create over 380 new homes

**Countryside will work with the Council to deliver Churchill Gardens in southeast London**

Countryside has been selected to deliver a development comprising of both residential and commercial elements, including 384 new, high-quality homes across 8 apartment blocks in Bromley town centre. Designed by Stitch Architects, Churchill Gardens will be adjacent to the existing Church House Gardens, as well as being in the heart of the town centre.

The proposal, formerly known as Site G, will be multi-storey, is subject to planning, with the heights to be determined but varying across the scheme area. The accommodation mix will include: 250 private sale homes, 81 [affordable rent homes](https://www.financedigest.com/how-to-make-your-next-home-upgrade-more-affordable.html "How to Make Your Next Home Upgrade More Affordable"), and 53 shared ownership homes. The heat and hot water for the development will supplied by a Combined Heat and [Power system](https://www.financedigest.com/telecom-tower-power-system-market-is-expected-to-reach-us6-7-bn-by-2031.html "Telecom Tower Power System Market is expected to reach US.7 Bn by 2031.") located within the basement.

A [key aspiration of the Development](https://www.financedigest.com/automotive-mems-sensor-market-key-manufacturers-development-trends-and-competitive-analysis-2028.html "Automotive MEMS Sensor Market Key Manufacturers, Development Trends and Competitive Analysis 2028") Brief was to create at least 990 square metres (10,650 sqft) of new commercial space that will offer a range of bars and restaurants opposite The Churchill Theatre and Library Gardens. The commercial space will be located along the ground floor frontages facing the new Plaza and Square in front of the Theatre, in an attempt to increase dwell times and activation to this area. The entrance to the Plaza from the High Street will be widened and a new glazed corner unit will draw activity in from the High Street, improving this already popular asset within Bromley Town Centre. The new Plaza will become a prominent destination for new and existing residents.

In addition, to the commercial space there will be new, enhanced community facilities including a new replacement town church, totalling over 730 square metres (7850 sqft). The community space will be located on the ground floor with active frontages to Ethelbert Road, Churchill Way and the new promenade.
